FAQs

  • No. I am an out of network provider so payment is due at the end of each session. However, you will receive a superbill that you can submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. Your services may be covered, or partially covered by your insurance plan. Please know that submitting claims to your insurance provider forces the disclosure of a mental health diagnoses. That diagnosis can stay with you for life and I prefer not to disclose that information without your specific consent.

  • $150 per 50 minute session. I also offer a limited sliding scale based on need.

  • We will spend most of our time going over whatever issue you are coming in with. We will also spend time talking about your personal and family history. This step will give us a chance to get to know one another better as well as to provide an opportunity for us both to understand your presenting problem better. Remember, at its core therapy is about a safe and trusting relationship between the client and the therapist. If, after our first session you do not feel like I am a good fit for you I will happily provide you with referrals to other therapists who may work better for you.

  • Everyone’s therapy journey is unique. In our first session, I will ask you what you want to work on and what you would like to get out of our time together. Some people prefer to focus on short term, goal oriented therapy while others feel they can gain more from longer term work.

  • I have a backing in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy which focuses on the underlying emotional needs of each individual in the relationship. We will spend our time in sessions trying to identify the “dance” of your relationship. What moves do one of you make in reaction to your partner. Once we have really identified this we will continue to work on fixing this issue so that both of you can meet each other's needs.
